Let us sum up some observations I have made this year

BearBear Posts: 18,953 ✭✭✭
1. Each of us collectors, is smarter then everyone else
on the face of the earth.

2. Everyone says that silver will hit 60 dollars an ounce
before I can take my socks off for the night. It must be true

3.Gold is so much better then silver. On the other hand, maybe
not.

4.Buy the right coins from the right dealer and you are on your way
to wealth and riches beyond your wildest dream.

5.Did you ever hear the story of a collector whose stack fell on him
and killed him?

6. Always believe everything everyone tells you. On the other hand,
don't believe anything anyone tells you. Either way is the right path
to absolute insanity.

7.Always brag about your winning purchases. Never ever whisper a word
about the bone head purchases in which you lost your A$$.

8.If you continue to buy high and sell low, think of the capital losses you
can post to your tax returns next year.

9.Always tell the Forum exactly where you hide your coins in the house. If
you list your name and home address, it will make life that much easier for
the burglar.

10.The proper amount of gold and silver you should own, is more then you can
afford in 6 lifetimes.

    Bear, I love you man....!image

    You got great insight.
I manage money. I earn money. I save money .
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.

Have you seen David Hall Rare Coins' financial survival portfolio? He recommends STARTING at $10,000, half in gold, and half in silver. From there, he goes past the cost of a new Lexus GS and into the cost of beach-front property.

Then again, the way precious metals are going, our existing portfolios might be there by this time next year.

I like Number 1 -- Each of us collectors is smarter than everyone else on the face of the Earth.

I have always suspected this but now I have citable authority on the internet so it must be true.

Words of wisdom indeed. Now, if you could just weave these into one or more 'Tales of Coinalot', all would be well. I do miss those entertaining novelettes. Cheers, RickO

Everyone is always wrong and if you toe the line and believe the common wisdom
you'll usually be in excellent company. This saves one the burden and responsibility
of thinking for himself and allows one to commisurate with like minded individuals
when you buy high and sell low.

Tis far better to be wrong with the majority than right by oneself.

This belief should permeate all aspects of one's life so only popular music and pop-
ular products are ever considered. Be careful of ideas until you can be sure that they
are widely shared. Avoid having your own ideas since you could become an outcast
almost overnight. When good things happen to the cowd we should all be right in
    the center of it.

Your number 9 reminds me of one. After showing a multiple thousand dollar collection at a show make sure you place your collection in the back seat of your car with the "I love gold coins" bumper sticker and stop by the nearest diner for a meal before hitting the road.
Gold and silver are valuable but wisdom is priceless.

Be sure to get seated in the middle of the crowd so you can't see your car and
just in case no one followed you have "gold coin collection" stenciled on the side
    that's showing through the window.
