I think that No Motto era Liberty Quarter Eagles...

in mid-upper grade circulated condition are a very attractive buy in the current market. I am excluding the C and D coins from this discussion as they are always expensive. Otherwise, you can get a lot of coin and a lot of history for your buck. I am not sure why I am starting a thread like this, but feel free to comment or post a photo of one of these if you have one.

I had an 1886 $2½ Quarter Eagle PCGS 55 CAC arrive today from "She Who Must Never Be Named". I don't have any pics as she just posted it Sunday night with no pics and I can't take any.
As I am now dipping my toe in gold, I wish I had the know how to properly grade and purchase raw gold coins. I am buying all the books I can on gold, try to study up.
I particularly like the (gold) coins from the 1840s - they're a lot rarer than most people think.

Coin collecting depresses me more and more as I realize there are more and more series that I really like.
I may have to acquire one of these.....and another.....and another......
I've got a '43-O in 55 that is awesome, and has a Steicher pedigree... sorry no pics.
To me, they are more interesting and less expensive. Here's a Dahlonega coin so that we have all of the mints represented:
