"a lot of silver" (a lot is two words image ) means I can't carry it all by myself.

edited to add: it's "definition" imageimage

A lot.......... is approx 2X what each individual currently owns. When Buffet owned 120 MILL ounces, he thought the 180 MILL ounces that the Hunts once had was a lot.
Now that Warren doesn't own any silver (at least not reported), he thinks a 5 oz set of pucks is a lot.

I intended to add a poll, but messed up. It wont allow me to edit one in now either. In retrospect, I think the answers here are more honest anyway when you are held accountable for your "vote". Its far to easy for a member to vote "5,000oz" if his vote is anonymous. Besides....the question isnt "how much silver do YOU own", so a faceless poll isnt even needed in this case.

I once owned 10 100 ounce bars. Whe n I moved it from one state to another I decided it was a lot of silver.

So based on my post, how much silver do you think I own? I referenced 5 oz, 120 MILL oz, and 180 MILL oz. Clue #1: it's somewhere in between those numbers.
And no fair saying I own 50% of 2X what I own. image

I consider 5,000 ounces of silver to be "alot". For me a realistic goal is 3,000.
  • 2012 ounces.....image
Many buy and sell transactions. Let's talk!
  • 32,000 oz is a TON of money

    and would be considered alot

but hauling it around will require

    a big truck

but at this rate that is only about a $1.2 mil load of stuff

I absolutely agree on the 2X theory. When I was trying to figure out my number for a lot, two times my current stash was exactly what I came up with.

I was thinking that sounded like a pretty good definition. The only other definition I could think of is, "when I start complaining that I have too much, that's alot of silver".image

When I started hoarding, I remember breaking the $200 value mark, then the $300 value mark. $1,000 of silver would have definitely seemed like a lot at that time. It doesn't now.
