I have 3 Franklin Mint 1000 grain silver ingots made out of sterling silver. How much silver do I have in troy ounces of .9999 silver?
BTW: Are these worth more than melt?

Multiply by 0.925 to get the pure silver amount and divide by 480 to convert to Troy ounces. You have 1.9271.....Troy ounces.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

Thanks! That's would be x3 of course since I have 3 of these metals.
<< <i>Sterling Silver sells for less than spot, seems not too many want it just like the 40% coinage. Too bad really maybe that will change in the future if silver becomes hard to buy. >>
I agree, in the US...Sterling is the arm pit of silver. FM did make some superior artistic art bars, most however, are not appreciated as such.
Here is a nice Sterling value conversion calculator
Sterling value
Based on today's spot ... your 3 bars have about a $220 melt value
