What's up with these water spots... and what caused those two scratches?????

When I submitted my children's coins to PCGS, I was very meticulous in screening the coins (I've actually purchased up to six of the same coins to find a sutiable coin for their collection!). I looked at each coin at 8 different angles and in two different light sources. If you look at the dime, you can see the spots on the obverse at 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock. More importantly, what caused the two scratches on the quarter????? you can see the scratches on the reverse running from 12 o'clock to 2 o'clock. Would a Washington with two long scratches actually grade an MS67? WTH? This is two more coins I'll need to upgrade after dumping $45 each on SecurePlus and TrueView!!!!! They're both inexpensive, but each have a $45 premium now.

Hoard the keys.
When it's returned on Thursday, I'll have a better idea of the coin in hand. If the TrueView is like the 1940 MS67FS TrueView, it'll be significantly exaggerated.
Hoard the keys.
<< <i>I already bought a replacement for the dime. The quarter was graded today. I agree with the insides of the letters/numbers. I can't imagine I missed the scratches, unless the lighting in the TrueView REALLY amplified them and they aren't really prevalent at all. >>
I assume these are the kid's birth years? Why not just get them 1999 and 2000 proof sets in the original holders ($100 for both) and start getting them some
Walkers, Franklins, Mercury dimes already slabbed for what you are spending on getting what are essentially cash register coins in plastic?

I agree with you! The kids like their birth sets....after spending that much cash you could have gotten them some decent gold too.

I think when you look close these will be raised lines. They're from polishing or something that was done to the die.

I didnt want to say that but since you did :
multiple coins
showing all the coins of the year
grade not so important here.

They own both. Their slabbed mint sets are a present from me... that we both work toward (my money, their efforts). They're in nice mahogany presentation cases with an appropriate brass plate. They're something we work on together when I'm deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. I hope they don't take possession of them until after they graduate college and not upon my wartime death... either way, they're something we all shared.
I received the 1999-D Georgia today... I had to twist and contort the coin to see the scratches under a 10x magnifying glass. The light has to hit the marks perfectly before they're even remotely visible! I wish the TrueViews were more representative of the coins in hand.
