The museum was renovated recently. It's worth a visit if in the area.

I was there last week as part of the ANA tour. It is in operation, but with limited hours.
They have a mock-up of a gold mine, complete with tunnels, skips, stopes, timbers, air & water lines, and cracked timbering that Fred Holabird confirmed was absolutely accurate. It is awesome.
Also a cool set of mine specimens and the CC coin set, don't know how often the latter is on display. Also the silver service from the USS Nevada.
Coin Press #1 is still operational and I think they said they run it every Friday.
