Walker '42 S question... (pics added)

DAMDAM Posts: 2,410 ✭✭
While going through some Walkers I plan to sell for melt, I ran across 2 1942-S I labeled as Large S and Small S. I didn't dig too hard, but the only info I could find was in Breen. I didn't see any listed in any of the Walker Varities Sets and presume neither must be very rare.

Both were taken from pocket change, years ago. And are VF. If neither is of signifcant value, they are destine, like many other commen dates I have, for the silver guy. $12 a pop is better than taking up space.

Thanks for any info.

    Don't know much about it, but I'm thinking you are right, no real collector demand for them.
    I'll bump it and hope member DennisH chimes in - as for walker varieties, he is one of the most
    knowlegdeable guys I know of, having cherried many different specimens.

    Only thing listed in the cheerypickers is the 1942-S DDO FS-50-1942S-101. Looks like it didn't make the cut.

    There are a LOT of varieties that didn't make the cut! They are in the process of adding to the CPG as we speak!image

    Thanks for the feedback.

    I guess I'll turn these in for melt too. Local dealer was paying 25 times face today.

    Is there really a large and small S for the 1942 date? Can you take a picture? Thank you!

    Both the 42-S & 28-S came with large and small mint marks. No premium associated with it to my knowledge.

    Per Breen;
    Small s - "Mintmark as in 1917-1941; from leftover 1941 die".
    Large S - "Mintmark as in 1943-1947."
