Grade just in....I'm a happy camper!!

First of all, I would like to offer a great big THANK YOU!! to Don Willis for the contest he held a while back (Guess the # of coins graded in the 1st year of operation). I was fortunate enough to take 2nd, and my prize was a free Secure Plus walkthrough. I was lucky enough to be able to get to the ANA convention in Sacramento on Friday. I am a flight attendant and had an overnight there. The coin I wanted to have graded was a 1910 PF62BN in an ICG holder. The day before (Thursday) I talked to Trista, the Customer Service Manager. I mentioned that I wanted to do a crossover, so she changed my voucher from a Secure Plus to a regular submission (I was a bit timid about cracking the Lincoln out and submitting it raw, lest it came back graded lower). Well, I got to the convention a bit after 2 in the afternoon, and they had stopped taking walkthroughs at 2. The PCGS rep made a call and said they would go ahead and take it, but it would not be done by the end of the convention. It would have to be mailed back. No problem. I was not going to be there to pick it up anyway. My grade was posted today........PF63BN!!!
Everyone from PCGS that I had contact with has been very helpful, and this, my first regrade experience, has been a very pleasant one, to say the least! Thank you PCGS!

I can certainly understand this for a coin already in a PCGS holder or perhaps NGC, but if your goal is eventual resale, I think you'll find the respect (or lack thereof) garnered by ICG effectively lowers the grade on the outset, not to mention may make people think there could be other problems. In many cases, you're better off dropping a grade and being in a more respected holder.
