Worth the gamble?

I just received a second-chance offer for $365 including shipping on this lot of cards:
Is it worth the gamble? Looks like there are a bunch of '69s there. Link

My biggest concern at looking at the auction is why is the picture dated 2008? That is a lot of time between then and now to have sorted the shiat out of what is pictured. Also the packs all look like junk.

I like the fact that the photo is three years old. Also, I make a rule of never-- ever-- buying any cards that come with a 'story'.

The picture on the photo says 3/1/2008, that's scary for me stay away.
  • Perhaps the seller didn't bother to set the date on the camera and it just defaults to 2008? I'm not saying that's actually the case here. It's just a possibility.

I'd be happy to sell you twice as much junk for half the price. Then you won't feel completely ripped off, just mildly taken advantage of.

I would say that the chances of this being worth $345.00 are about as close to zero as mathematically possible.

that pile of green unopened topps packs are 1984...

it doesn't seem right that there are 2008 bowman packs in there. Clearly whoever owns this has sorted through it as curren as 08 if they are still buying packs. i would pass. Also this seller is giving "Eagles" a bad name

That pile stinks to high heaven! I wish people would wise up to these kind of auctions but somebody will get burned. So sad.

It's good to see someone coming here and asking this sort of question
first, before hitting the 'buy' tab.

    Good for you.

Looks like the older Bro did some cherry pickin' before left for "Collage"

Its only a gamble to you, the seller knows what he has image

to me it looks like a bunch of modern Topps commons and even more modern unopened garbage.
If he actually wants to sell... ask him for exact numbers on every single year Pre1973, and for the description of the so called 1930-40 cards...... if he is too lazy, pass!

    My honest instinct?

If it were worth anything - they wouldn't be selling it like a pile of crap.

edit: would not be surprised if the sale was shilled?

  • I decided to let it go, thanks to you guys. I emailed the seller for clearer pictures, and didn't get a response. I probably saved myself from a huge headache.

In my opinion, it is not worth the chance. I love the guys who say they aren't sure what's in there.

What!?...not even a "fuzzy scan" of one of those 1963 commons rookie cards that from a "distance" looks as though it could possibly be a Pete Rose rookie card? This seller needs to improve on his ebay fish catching technique. LOL

The above is one of the best pieces of advice I have ever seen on these boards.
