Incredible Haul At The Credit Union

Last Friday I was making a withdrawal at the local credit union and did my usual spiel of "do you have any half dollars, Ike Dollars or $2 bills. The teller replied that she did have some halves, and I asked her if she had any that were dated before 1970. Her response was "Yeah, but I don't think you will want it because it is old and dirty" I took it anyway and got a 1964 90%er. She said she had $340 worth of halves in the vault if I wanted them. I told her I would think about it, because quite bluntly I have never had luck with half dollar roll searches. On a lark this morning while driving by the credit union I decided to give it a shot...

I am very damned glad I did. The first roll produced two 1963 Frankies, then nearly entire rolls of 40% halves - getting near the end of the 34 rolls I found the Walkers. A grand total of 44 40% halves, and 9 90%ers including a 1942, a 1943, a 1944, five 1963 Frankies, and two 1964's. Then one of the rolls had particularly shiny halves, there were ten proofs from 1981 and 1982.

I think I might convert over from cent box searching now!
