New Buffalo Nickel Varieties Blog/Web Site
I would like to announce a new web site and blog dedicated to buffalo nickel varieties, Buffalo Nickel Varieties: Picking Cherries on the Web. It is an "Informational" web site providing images and descriptions of buffalo nickel varieties, particularly the lesser known varieties that are part of PCGS' Buffalo Nickels Complete Variety Set. This includes not only the particular aspects of a variety but also the die markers (die cracks, clashes, scratches...) for each.
Most of my posts on the site will focus on the lesser known varieties in my collection, the second ranked and most complete PCGS Buffalo Nickels Complete Variety Registry Set. Some of the posts already available include
Two Feather Abraded Die Varieties
1913-D Type I Two Feather
1918 DDR: The Question
and many more...
We also plan posts on "cherry picks" (your special unattributed finds), under appreciated varieties (ones you think are impressive and deserve more recognition), questions (what are you wondering about?), and want lists. And of course, there will be other unanticipated directions for the site.
You will need to register to comment on existing posts. Ideally we would like comments to expand the knowledge base. This might include adding new information about a variety, confirming information about a variety, showing an example of a similar variety, pointing out variations in appearance with changes in die state, or... Our intent is that this will become a reference site with the most complete and accurate information available about buffalo nickel varieties.
If you would like to create a post on a new topic, (perhaps about a favorite variety of yours or the impact of die state on the appearance of doubled dies, or ?), please register and then email me (coins@coolkarma.com) so I can authorize you as a "contributor". This will allow you to expand the site in the directions you find most interesting and valuable.
The site already has a number of web pages and posts, but it is just a beginning and will always be a work in progress. Please take a look, and as always
Enjoy!
Richard
P.S., this is the first web site and blog for which I have played the role of "webmaster". Please let me know if something doesn't seem to work properly or you would like to see a new capability.

WOW! 16 days to ship but only 6 days to grade? I wish my submissions were that quick!
This looks like a great site and resource for Buffalo collectors. As a suggestion, you should write about your acquiring the36-D 3 1/2 leg that you found raw. I thought it was a great story when you posted about it. I look forward to watching the site grow. I don't collect varieties (yet) but do find them interesting. Thanks again!

I already posted my first comment on the website.
P.S. I just registered for myself. Excellent stuff.
llafoe - Yes, PCGS can be very quick to attribute. That seems to be the pattern for submissions where they only have to verify attributions. Last year I had an attribution only submission that posted with attributions two days after they received it! And then took 19 more days before they shipped it.
breakdown - Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I'll post my 36-D 3hl story - I never get tired of it
Shamika - Yes, I have Ron's Abraded Die Varieties - an excellent resource. As he noted, Ron has registered at the site so we'll benefit from some of his insights.
Thank you to those of you who have registered - there's still time for the rest of you
Enjoy!
