I went to the local coin shop and picked up some nice Die Chip cents, Clipped cents and a few odd ball coins. Including a metal counterfeit quarter from 1965 ( i assume from a kids toy from the 60s). weighs in at 4.03 g instead of the norm 5.71g. Anyway. Paying average prices for the coins i wanted he had a roll of 57 wheats that had skull cracks in it. little die cracks only in the skull of lincoln. he said he had it for yrs didnt know if it was worth anything most if not all are BU. He said it might be likea bugs bunny type coin that specialty collectors might be interested in coins like this. I figure he had them for a while so he never found a buyer. Anyway . 5.00 for the roll. I popped on it since he went through the time to find me die chips he knew about in his inventory and so the clipped cents too. I figure for 5.00 it wouldnt be a big loss cause I cant see these skull cracks being rare or worth anything. good karma more than anything. he said stop in once a month, or give a call once a month and see what he has in die chips now that he knows im interested and he knows what to look for. He said the going rate is 25 cents over face or 25 cents over coin value. SO that should give me a nice idea on value when someone says how much is my die chip is worth. He called 3 or 4 dealers to get an idea on the price of them and the avg price he said was 25 cents over face or over coin value on better grade coins. .25 over a coins value isnt bad and i would buy them all day long like that.
Then at the same time bought my gf a coin stamped with i love you. it got her a little into coins as she brought out a bag of coins in which a 2000 WAM was found on top of the one i got yesterday from the bank. I think the coin bug has my gf now
she can collect a little now too.
