First Strike Designation

Although this has been discussed before, the First Strike designation by our host and ATS is the most contrived designation there is. The mint has coined tens of thousands of coins to be sent out to collectors on the first day of issue. To determine the "first stikes" from these is impossible, so they arbitrarily set a cutoff date from the mint to determine FS. There is absolutely no way that these "First Strikes" are superior to others sent out by the mint.
So much for my rant, hopefully the ax doesn't swing because of my criticism of our host. Now I feel better.

First strike could be last minted

So, you finally realized that your none first strike coins are selling for less than similar first strike coins? And now your criticizing collectors who opted to pay the additional fee for a FS designation?
I somehow, just cannot seem to get behind a First Strike™ Lincoln Shield Cent or First Strike™ Kennedy Half Dollar.
The name is LEE!
They are now doing the commemorative coins, uncirculated & proof
(I like my ASE in FS holders, but this is going too far . . . . IMHO)

<< <i>Buy the coin not the label. And if not, look at my swinging watch. You are getting sleepy, sleepy, sleepy.... now repeat after me - First Strikes are the best thing to happen to coin collecting. You feel no desire to own a modern slabbed coin with out that label. You will remember nothing, but this undeniable fact when I snap my fingers.
"Paid for by PCGS & NGC". BTW, the cool-aid dispenser is open for all who want to pay.

<< <i>I actually bought a PCGS DCAM 70 First Strike 2010 Lincoln Dollar Proof for $200 last year. >>
With CU guide at $250 for First Strike, and $240 for non First Strike, I think it proves the OP's point....no offense at what you paid for it, as 'buy what you like' still pertains (unless it's a fantasy overstrike '64-D Peace dollar...lol)
I actually have the proof version bought from DCarr too
