The reds seem pretty red...and it also seems odd that the toning would not be on the same end of the coin, on the bottom of both the obverse and reverse.

I agree with ModCrewMan, Al!!! Nice looking SLH anywho!!!!!!! It's simply wrong as you state!!!
While the picture may be juiced a bit, I vote real, and I know how it could have toned that way ...
A coin set in a holder at an angle (in this case the sun pushed as far back as possible while the olive branch was probably all the way up against the top "slide") ... would create more space over the two toned areas, and more surface area from the holder in close proximity to the toning that developed
If that's how it toned, and I suspect it did, naturally ... the coin was left untouched for some time in it's position

Excellent and very believable explanation. Thanks.

the questionable aspect isn't the color, it's where the color is at. coins just don't normally tone like that despite the theory put forth by Todd. as a matter of fact, the way they tone is in the link provided by fcloud. i don't generally deal in absolutes because Mother Nature loves to fool us, but i'm willing to climb out on a limb with this one and say i believe it is no way NT despite the holder, the seller and the opinions of other members.
Why would someone artificially tone a coin in such a specific location? One might say that it was a failed attempt at something more "spectacular." I doubt it. I say NT.
Awesome..... I guess I better edit and say I like the color, and the luster is quite strong. I believe it to be a natural toned coin, after all it is in a pcgs holder! I've sen some stranger colors before, more so than this one, and so have you keets!!
The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
