2009 FY Doubled Dies Added To The "Cherrypickers' Guide"
Posted today 3/8/11 on John Wexlers' web site; Doubleddie.com
"Editor of The Cherrypickers' Guide to Rare Die Varieties, Ken Potter, has informed us that at least seven of the 2009 Formative Years Lincoln cent doubled die varieties have been assigned numbers for The Cherrypickers' Guide (CPG). Potter left open the possibility that other varieties will be added.
The seven varieties added to the CPG are as follows: FS-01-2009-801 (WDDR-043), FS-01-2009-802 (WDDR-002), FS-01-2009-803 (WDDR-001), FS-01-2009-804 (WDDR-050), FS-01-2009-805 (WDDR-025), FS-01-2009-807 (WDDR-016), and FS-01-2009-808 (WDDR-006). No, we did not accidentally skip FS-806. The gap was intentional and will be filled but hasn't been as of this writing.
The Cherrypickers' Guide is a well known and well respected guide within the hobby and the inclusion of these varieties in the guide is sure to increase interest in them.
The appropriate CPG cross-references have been added to the listings for these varieties found elsewhere on this website. Potter also provided us with cross-reference numbers for these seven varieties to his Variety Coin Register and we have added those cross-references to those listings as well. To access the complete listings for these varieties just click on the following link: 2009 Formative Years 1¢ Reverse Doubled Dies (Posted March 8, 2011)"
IMO, There's still 8 more that should be added to the list, but it's a start

Thanks papi, you have worked hard on these coins. I have noticed big ads from Ken Potter every week
in Numismatic news and I am sure they are in other coin papers also so thank you Ken for keeping
them out in front of everyone also. I knew it would happen eventually as these are a major error even if
we have our poo poo boys on here to try to downgrade them. Don't forget we here on the boards have
most of these coins.
$50 is the PCGS cost for grading errors.
submissions. They would undermine all of the advantage that ANACS has currently enjoyed in being the exclusive grading company that has recognized these errors on their slabs. I would personally feel more
confident with PCGS evaluation of an ms68 than that of ANACS. We'll see what the future holds, but I'm very happy that progress is being made towards the recognition of these errors.
Still hoping that someone has the information I requested in previous posts on this thread and is willing to share it.
<< <i>WDDR 016, 025, 043, 050......what date boxes were they found in? times? batch numbers? thanks.....posted that question too late last night I guess. >>
Remember, not all of these 2009 FY DDRs were found in the US Mint LP 2 Roll Sets. Many of these classifications were found in bank rolls too. I do not know the specifics for the numbers above, but my guess is the later ones may indeed be bank roll finds.

There was a thread on this for all the dates where the errors were found. I think 4/17 was one of the dates on the mint issued rolls. Been awhile.

<< <i>Even if PCGS reccognizes these who is going to pay $50 to have them slabbed??
$50 is the PCGS cost for grading errors. >>
More than 50$ all things considering, you will end up paying 60$ + the price of the coin for a 4.99$-9.95$ coin retail and to be honest these are so minor that I can see the public not trusting the attribution by any of the TPG's. I would put big money that you will see lots of wrongly FS numbered "finger" coins. Also I don't think they stand a shot at getting graded as Doubled Die Rev or DDR's it would simply say 2009 FS-801,802,803 or even worse FS-001,002,003
<< <i>How did PCGS grade the 08 reverse 07 ASEs. I thinks these could get graded as a regular submission. I forgot when I submitted mine several years ago. Anybody remember? >>
These are a minor variety that will command the full $50 if/ when PCGS recognizes them. The 08/07 SAE's are a major, easy recognized variety that didn't need a microscope and thus expert examination. They didn't charge extra to grade them. Even if/when PCGS grades these I think the $50 charge will deter most people from sending them in. Why would you send a $5-10 coin in for grading? I love varieties but the fees will leave these coins dead in the water as they are now. There will be no 68's or 67's in PCGS slabs!! Look at the pop report for the regular ones. PCGS is brutal on modern copper!!
<< <i>Yes!
Unfortunately none of these were in Mint LP2 boxes. All for of these DDRs were found in bank rolls. I never did find the 16.
<< <i>How did PCGS grade the 08 reverse 07 ASEs. I thinks these could get graded as a regular submission. I forgot when I submitted mine several years ago. Anybody remember? >>
Not sure about the Rev of 07 although those were considered major when these will not be(or they would have already)
You will most likely need a regular submission and then pay extra for Varity attribution to get the FS number and that is only if they agree to do it. I have done this many times for Peace dollar Vam's and trade dollar errors and it adds up quick and the cost effectiveness of the slab is in question (what it would sell for raw vs. slabbed) and that is for dollars valued in the hundreds.
<< <i>Thanks Papi for the update. That's great news!
When is the book due on the streets? >>
I just go an Email from Ken Potter; he said "The book that would cover these is over a year and a half away. They are going to allow me room for maybe two or three more of these "
So, it's another 18-24 months out, but included nonetheless. Now's your chance to stock up, before they become more widely known.
By the way, has anyone seen the WDDR-025 being sold on HSN; the "Extra Pinky"?
even with my old eyse I can see many without using a microscope.
Unfortunately, each coin already graded and unattributed by PCGS will cost $34 each for the variety attribution.
Each coin that crosses over to PCGS from an ANACS slab will cost $38 each for the variety attribution.
Of course, this is in addition to the standard $8.00 handling fee for each submission form and the return shipping for each submission form. This means that the more coins you submit, the lower per coin costs are associated with that $8.00 fee and the return shipping.
I can recall some $400 10 coin Washington Type B Submissions thats did not pay for themselves.

How about purchasing some sets of pucks to send in and make money, get your variety attribution done on these for personal collection/pleasure-----------BigE
guess maybe they'll be worth something now.

A scan does not show you any details. I had some pictures posted on these early in the post but have not been able to locate them. I took some pictures with my dino scope which showed detail but do not have it hooked up as I changed computers and have not figured out how to do that either.
Get 'em in the Redbook and you *might* have a shot...

I still have my 5 sets in the unopened shipping box from the Mint
I am looking forward to the new cherry pickers guide coming out as I feel these coins are a great find in our modern times and should be
recognized as such even if there are not that many people that like them yet.

<< <i>That is good news. That means PCGS will follow suit and recognize them. I have over 100 of the prime date roll sets. I must have 6 or 7 hundred of the varieties in the rolls. I also have a bunch of PCGS graded MS66's/ >>
I wouldn't bother, there are just too many. CherryPicker or not; unless you know it's a MS68 or MS69 save your money.
Glad to see y'all, and I too haven't given up on these.
