Here's a pretty nice example of a very tough date.
With a mintage of just 5,000, it's a tough coin to come across, although they often come in high grade.

What would you say the grade is?

Looks nice. Most likely UNC and could grade anywhere from 63-66 from the pic.

Is that rub on the knee and breasts?

Anywhere between AU58 and MS65+ (edited to add: my guess is toward the lower end of that large range), as the lighting makes it impossible to get a good look at the coin. Also, the color is light enough to indicate that it has probably been dipped or otherwise lightly cleaned and has subsequently re-toned.

I think it's a nice coin, but I also think it's AU58 according to the photos provided. It looks like rub on the hair, breast and knees to me.

This coin comes very P-L. Which kills the luster. This is the kind of coin that has to be graded in hand. It could be a high-MS or a bodybag or anything in between.

Coin looks like a proof to me. Without larger photos, the reverse die seems to match with this NGC PR66CAM on Heritage.

Very few put into circiulation and thus not as rare as the mintage figure would indicate. Many rare in low grades. nice type coin. Often Proof like or hard to tell from a Proof.

The coin is definitely a business strike. The weakness in the center of LIBERTY is a tell.
It does have very good luster, and is not very PL.
I'll post some better pics in a day or two.

Agreeing with Mark on the fact it's been dipped and is retoning.

MS details, but can't grade it from the photos. The 1886 might be the toughest of the 1879 to 1890 run among business strikes.

I agree with the previous comments. Tough quarter, I am looking for a nice circulated one and they don't come up very often.

The mild pastel toning in the fields tells me everything I need to know. I'd pass on it if it is offered as a natural unc.

Even if she's been cleaned and has since re-toned, I think it's a very pretty coin.

My gut is an AU58 if there is a slight rub or 63/64 if not.

Still nice no matter what.
