... finding a Yosemite quarter in change. It was only the second National Parks quarter I have gotten in change.

At least I did manage to add something to my "Secret Collection 2" later in the day. It's the first item I've added to that collection this year. Cost was $26.00.
All glory is fleeting.

    The great thing about this hobby is you can find enjoyment in so many circumstances, from buying that one monster coin you need to complete a set to, yes, a NP quarter or getting a lustrous wheat cent in change. I think getting something from the hunt makes it worthwhile, regardless of the size of the game you bring down.

    New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

    I can't reveal it because the addition of even one additional aggressive collector might cause a significant price jump.

    Here are some hints:

    They are a mid-20th century item that were used in everyday commerce.

    I started this collection about eight months ago after looking for a specialized collecting area that contains real rarities but has been ignored.

    It does not involve US coins. I view US coins as fully priced/overpriced.

    It involves collecting by date ... and it is now very obvious that many, if not most of the dates are very rare. They just weren't saved.

    This is a "no upgrade" collection. Once a date has been obtained, that's it. If a better one comes along I'm not interested.

    I'm looking for problem-free average circulated examples. High grade is not important. (I suspect that most of the dates don't exist in Uncirculated condition. One date may not exist in any grade.)
