    I like the Liberty Cap three-cent-silver better than the Star of David design.
  • I think there are a bunch of patterns that would have been better choices and more aesthetically pleasing

    There is several I would have rather seen be what was used instead of the actual choice. Mostly the seated liberties.

    This one never reached the pattern coin stage. It is a model that Charles Keck made for the Vermont commemorative half dollar before the final reverse, which shows a catamount cat, was approved. The image of the cat stood for the Catamount Tavern when Ira and Ethan Allan hoisted a few and planned their revolutionary activities. That image went over the heads of everyone and did not convey the intended meaning.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals.
