Have you seen a Morgan dollar before? >>

There is a difference between the distortion of form based on knowledge and the distortion of form resulting from ignorance. >>

Here is an illustration of how I did it, vs. how the US Mint did it.
Which one do you prefer ?

... I noticed someone commented about the possibility of the presence of a nipple. If true, the breast is much too small relative to the bust and is far too high on the chest. >>

That was just a spot of light reflection. This image shows the area better (no nipple):

<< <i>Anyway, this is my take on this particular work. I did visit your website and I think your strength lies mainly in your original designs rather than these variations you do of someone else's work. But that's usually par for the course for any artist who chooses to engage in this activity. >>

All art, one way or another, is based on previous work.

<< <i>The best of luck to you and again, I hope I didn't offend - that was not my intention. >>

    Ok.

Well thought out and I enjoyed yor take on this work. However, how do you know the artists intent? Maybe, that was the look he was going for? I for one find his Liberties eyes, neck, bustline and lips seductive, interesting and alluring. No doubt he was going for a more contempary look for the times, much like all his work. In this case, I believe he nailed it.

Reich's work was right for his time but I like where DC went with his rendition. MJ >>

Yes, that was the look I was after.

PS: Toning and different lighting changes the facial appearance (but the relief contours are identical):

    << <i>Hi Daniel,

Well, honestly, I prefer the original design(s) and the mint 2008 coin. The proportions on yours...the Phrygian cap (I prefer it forward and yes, both styles have been used), ... >>

Interesting. I greatly prefer the "cap back" style and I don't think I could ever bring myself to doing the "cap forward" type. >>

    Hi again,

I was speaking of it in terms of appearance in this context, not the associated symbolism. I do like the economy of means in your 1993 WW2 5$ reverse design very much image

    Best wishes,
    Eric
