I will be set up there. The more people who attend the merrier.

Assuming my calendar is open, I plan to attend. It is only a drive of about 70 miles.
It would be my first coin show in Sacramento.
I am so excited at the prospect of going to the Captial City that tremble with anticipation, thinking that it will be different from and better than coin shows that take place in the SF Bay Area
Even if it is not that fun, I can always take a detour and revisit the State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento.
PNG member, numismatic dealer since 1965. Operates a retail store, also has exhibited at over 1000 shows. I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.
I've been planning on attending for the last two years but some recent family events are making it less likely I can make it.
If anyone gets a chance to make the 1.1 mile trek from the Convention Center to Sutter's Fort it would be a worthwhile stroll. Here are some pics taken at the Fort which is located adjacent to the State Indian Museum.

While you are in Sacramento, I highly recommend the California Railroad Museum. Its a very short distance from the convention center, and open 10-5 every day.

I probably won't be attending. Of all the places on earth for the ANA to put a Spring show, this is ridiculous. I'd rather be in Omaha or Reyjakavik as it would only take 1 connection for me to get there!
Yep, that 1999 Show in Sacramento was a huge surprise for everyone.
Good business, and LOTS of public.
I remember, along with most of the other dealers, being stunned at the pubic attendence for a 'small city'.
Let's hope we get 75% of that attendence.

I respectfully disagree:
1. Reasonable airfare - served by Southwest, making for competition 2. Reasonable hotel costs, and several price points with many hotels to choose from 3. Location has hotels and restaurants closeby - host hotel is across the street 4. Historical connection (gold rush center, Comstock Lode and Virginia City nearby) and local museums (as noted on another thread) 5. No sales tax over $1500 per transaction on coins 6. Easy driving distance from Bay Area, also many collectors within a day's drive

I've been to Omaha (not to Reykjavik yet, but planning on it this coming summer. Flown over Reykjavik a bunch of times so I've seen it from the air) several times and Sacramento does beat Omaha in every category. I know us in the Bay Area refer to Sacramento as the sticks but the place has a few charms.
The last time the ANA was in Sacramento an attendance record for the spring show was set. It got so busy they had to turn some people away.

A coin show that turns people away? Not in 2011, at least not in the U.S. (I can see shows in Asia having huge lines of people and turning people away though).
Now that I have my schedule for the month, I will try to trade into a nice Downtown overnight so I can go. Since California charges sales tax on coins under $1500 purchased, does anyone know if they do that separately or will that be included in the pricing? Not being from California (Arizona does not have sales tax on coins), I am curious how they handle that at shows......I do not think I will be spending over $1500 at any one stop..

I would bring cash to spend and ask dealers if tax is included in the price or how it is handled as part of the price negotiation.

Also March in Sacramento should be pretty pleasant, was almost 70 yesterday. March is a tricky month for many states as far as weather so California may be a safer bet that some. I would also add for people who are traveling here, you can get to Napa Valley, SF Bay Area and Lake Tahoe within 2 hours so it offers other traveling destinations.
Bump to the top. At #1110 along with Dennis88 and MFH diagonally across from PCGS. It should be a fun time and for once at a major show I may be somewhat rested since I get to sleep in my own bed. Please stop by, say hello and take a look.
