Just a few days ago in pocket change I found a 68-S, nice luster, decent strike for the year interesting enough a S on the east coast. 44 years where has this been hiding? And then you put up those great coins, really nice coins you have there. Good Luck in assembling the rest of the set, your cents deserve some fine bed fellows.

Those are simply gorgeous! How did you come by them? Show? Auction?

You know, I picked up a hoard of coins some months back, and amongst the cache were approximately 55 original bank-wrapped rolls of 68-S's... and about 20 69-S's...

S'pose I oughta open 'em up? image

Its a stunning coin, very SMS like, in fact I believe if it was a 1967 PCGS would have given it the SMS designation. The 68-P's come with tons of spots, its really had to find them without any, and then you have to find them clean, it is not easy. All of these were made by me from mint sets. The 1968 is the only MS67RD I made from that mint. I made 3 MS67RD 68-d's and 7 MS67RD 68-S's. The 1968 is the nicest of all of the 67RD's I made from all mints, I really thought it would re-grade at 67+RD, I guess not.

Nice. '68 was a good year for cents.

Why was the relief so high that year? Or is it just my imagination that '68 was high year, so to speak.

It was the last year from the higher relief master hub. It was reworked for 1969 and on which had less relief.
  • those are very nice-great finds

    Beautiful cents.

These do come nice but generally not this nice. I like the strike on the S especially.

I know they're mint set so am surprised the Philly has no apparent carbon spots. Apparently it got
out of the packaging in time since all those in the sets are spotted now.
