Just a quick observation of board traffic

I've been on CU for 7 yrs now - the time has flown!
Of interest - there's only 8 threads with today's date - Feb. 15th.
I don't think I've ever seen so little traffice - in general?
Has anyone else thought about that?
edit: now up to 10 - 11 if ya count mine.

if there are only a few, but the quality is there, then it's worth a look......plenty of folks still come around to boast or share.
and pitchers and catchers are reporting.

over the past year or two i have noticed a real exodus of some guys who used to be consistent contributors. some have turned their attention to cbt, while others just disappeared altogether.
for awhile there it was nothing but arguments and the like. things seemed to have settled down and while the number of posts has definitely declined there is also less acrimony in my opinion. hopefully some of the "good guys" will return.

I think some folks were likely spooked by those crazy ku klux klanta klaus pics.
Buying Vintage, all sports.
Buying Woody Hayes, Les Horvath, Vic Janowicz, and Jesse Owens autographed items
(it ain't much fun watching things there, same old)
<< <i>It is actually peaceful here with the exodus of the dudes that lived here wreaking havoc. Let them enjoy their own CBT board. At least they are don't attack anyone new here anymore, which caused most of the churn. I am sure they sleep together peacefully after talking to themselves all day with the power they have on their own board. Just think, the power of one's own message board.. KING OF THE KITCHEN ! This is at least a legit huge friggin company public place unafraid of mcoking people, then runnig scared when they get mocked.

Acting like a baby is a sure fire method of getting bullied.
Ron said he has witnessed seasonal traffic and since the general interest on these boards are baseball cards I would suspect if his observation is true which I would have no reason to doubt; then in a few weeks the action will return once the season gets near.
Having fun poking at each other is one thing but hard core personal attacks are simply not needed when many do not even know each other in real life. Internet cruelty is really stupid and does no one any good.
I for one would like the number of threads to pick back up as I enjoy reading and posting but it has been a lot more civilized on here the past few months which I enjoy more.

I agree the coin board is like GCT.
I think the economy will have a major impact on the hobby.
Didn't mean to sound negative or anything - just thinking out loud.
Thanx.

Steve, you're from MY: Have you ever heard anyone use the expression as busy as "Grand Central Terminal?" LOL..

<< <i>I notice the board is much slower from around 2AM to 7AM than it is at other times during the day. I wonder why this is the case.

WinPitcher just makes comments such as that because he'd rather be living in Philadelphia.
BTW: Where is MY? I checked the post office abbreviations, and didn't see that one listed?
I was going to start an '81 set of Donruss in PSA 8, 9, and 10. I was told it was a waste of money to spend $3000 on a $20 set.
Remember it's my money.
Not everyone over here falls into the category of rude and mean, but enough do that it was just no longer worth my while to even visit here.
There are some very nice people on this Forum. I received quite a few PM's from members wanting to sell PSA 81 Donruss cards and offering their help.

<< <i>You know this is the first time I have come over from the Coin Forum in a few months now. Why? Every time I posted to a thread I was attacked called stupid, insulted. Why should I want to come here.

If you can't accept that $3000 is a waste of money for a $20 dollar set... Then.......... Thank goodness for the kind considerate members who tried to sell you something.
<< <i>You guys haven't mentioned the biggest reason traffic has subsided...it's the same reason that I'm a far less frequent poster...the economy stinks. A lot of people have lost the discretionary income to collect cards. I had to sell most of mine. Now I spend less then half that money collecting autographed cards. It's almost certainly the economy that has hurt traffic. >>
Same here. My industry continues to take more and more projects out of the state and out of the country, which doesn't allow me to buy collectibles any more. I think I haven't bought really anything in over a year. Sadly enough I've actually downsized my collection too. I still check out the boards every once in a while, but its not a priority to me.

Grote, yes I have, from those that know the difference. lol
And they generally stop at 'Central' as in 'As busy as Grand Central'
Just messin with ya, yeah I have heard it all ways.
Usually I just let it go...........................
<< <i>Ron makes a great point, it was his money. >>
I wonder how what he does with his money ended up being commented on here on a message board?
Hi stown
I started following FCB and there were more posts about collecting over there (and way more rips) and quite a few of the guys from here.
Still working on my PSA Nolan Ryan set & PSA Albert Pujols set.

My personal card budget has gone down massively - up until a couple years ago I didn't bother to count the cost of what I collected. If I saw a card that I needed, I pulled the trigger. Now I can't afford to spend like that, which in a way is a good thing. I now pass up graded Butlers that before I wouldn't have hesitated to pick up. They'll either be there down the road, or they won't. Chances are that nobody else will pick them up, which means that maybe the 4SCs of the world will have them for a little less when I'm ready to make the move. I'm still trying to track down a few elusive modern cards, and for vintage cards I've been very choosy about what I'm willing to pick up. Fortunately I'm very close on a number of sets that I've been working on for years. That not only means I'm patient, but once I nail down those few remaining cards, I feel I've got the will power to be satisfied and not start new projects until things turn around.

Hi Ron
I think the childish behavior of some has caused a handful of people to leave but with respect to behavior in general? I agree with your sentiment and would like to see everyone treated well. Having said that - I think this has more to do with the behavior on your side of the street than anything else: (ZERO tolerance)

If we were requiring strict spelling and grammar Randy's post would fall of the chart every time!
I think it's best to ignore those individuals - I've found the thicker the skin one can grow on the net - the better.
