<< <i>The whole bag could be silver plated or just two coins could be silver plated. In the OGP it really would get tricky. That is why pre 1965 silver is so popular...no way to fake it unless the whole coin is counterfieted. >>
........................................................................................................................................................................... Probably far more of a problem in theory than fact.
It would be very time consuming and expensive to pull clad proofs from OGP, fake inserts and COAs, replate and repackage all without damaging proof finish.
Silver coins weigh significantly more than clad. 5.67 grams for clad vs. 6.25 grams for silver
A nail clipper to 20-30 random coins out of 500-1000 would solve the rest.
The mint has halted sales of 2010 Silver proof sets, price was $64.95 each. The 2011 Silver Proof set is 67.95... How long before it goes up! IF the 2011 Silver proof set starts rising it could end up very low mintage!!
2010 Silver Quarters Set - $39.95 (off sale now) --> Silver would need to hit $44.18 for the Set price of $39.95 to equal the silver melt value.
2010 Silver Proof Set - $64.95 (off sale now) --> Take out the $5.06 in non-silver coins, and that leaves $59.89. --> Silver would have to hit $44.75 for the remaining silver coins to be worth, at melt, the remaining cost of $59.89

The melt value of the set is now $54.76, plus 5.06 in non silver face.
Total $ 59.82
However I noticed that the non silver coins sell for more on Ebay.
Sac.----------------$ 2.50 each
other presidents$ 2.00
Nickel--------------$ .70
Cent---------------$ 3.50
So broken up, each set sells for $ 69.46
