Just picked this up at the Long Beach show for my personal collection. I just love it - not only is it is a beautiful coin, but it has a neat cud and numerous die breaks on both sides!

Forum member Stone (Winston) was collecting and studying steel cent cuds a couple years ago - I sent him one with a nice reverse cud gratas to assist him with his study.
Hopefully he'll chime in and update us on his project.

I have two old rolls of those I have never opened.... wonder what might be inside... will have to check one day. Cheers, RickO

  • Back in the early 60's it was not uncommon to see the steel cents in jars filled to the brim and used as door stops. When I was sorting

through cents I would go to the bank and occassionally get $25.00 wrapped steel cents in the aluminum trays they use to keep them

stored in. Little did we know back then what we turning back to the banks. Many uncs., choice au's etc.

While I've slowed down with my project to REALLY focus on my Bust Dime collection, I did manage to acquire between 15-20 different examples

CHarmy, I love your newP image

Here is my steel cent - when held in the light just right it has a dramatic cameo appearance. Almost proof like.
