UPDATE IN FIRST POST: Reholder group sub - Shipped from PSA yesterday!!

UPDATE 4/6: They shipped yesterday!! I expect to get them by the weekend. I have sent an email to each of the participants as well.

UPDATE 3/30: Should be any day now. They emailed me today to report that one item would have to be regraded due to the slab damage - (don't panic, the owner has already been contacted so it's not you) Their exact words were "The order should be done shortly."

UPDATE 3/10: Items delivered to PSA but not logged in yet. Items were logged in at the Anaheim Sort center overnight. I assume they spent some time at the Magic Kingdom, then wandered over to PSA later. image

UDPATE 03/08: Just shipped the items.. I was holding out for one more card that was 'in the mail', but decided it wasn't fair to hold up everyone any longer.

I'll work out individual return shipping with everyone when the cards get back to me, based on their preferences. If anyone in the sub wants the DC number, they can PM me directly, but I expect it to arrive Thursday based on my mailing experience with PSA.

----------------------------------------------------------------
I tried this a month or so ago and got a few replies, but in light of a thread today on reholdering I thought I'd try again.

By my math, if we can get 30+ cards to reholder, we can make it cost-effective to do a group sub, even when the extra to-from shipping is taken into account.

I only have 2, so I'll never send them in by myself.

EDIT:

Let's actually make this happen, and I volunteer to do the legwork. I did the math, and assuming 25ish cards the return shipping from PSA to me should be roughly $40 unless someone wants to reholder a 52 Mantle or something. Seems to me that anyone needing a reholder can get it done for < $6.50 per card plus shipping to and from me.

Anyone on board just PM me with the card count or post it here. I can't see doing it for less than 20 cards, as the shipping then would be more like $2 a card plus the costs to/from me.

Bump again to try and make this happen and hopefully get some Monday lookers. Come on fellas. Bob is trustworthy and I'm sure we all have a card or two that needs a new holder.

I can probably come up with a few. Let me know.

  • Bob,

I have three or four that could use reholdering. One of them is a somewhat pricey card ($350-$400), the others are worth $150 or less. Please PM with details if you get enough interest to make it worth doing. Thanks!!

Not many details. I'm basically figuring that when I get enough commitments (20-30 cards minimum), I'll post details similar to a regular group sub. Everyone sends to me, I prepare a sub and off they go.

I set the cutoff at 20-30 minimum, as I see the return postage capping in the low $40s using that number. Anything much less than that and we're starting to defeat the purpose. Anything over that and postage starts to drop even more.

So, everyone sends me cards, $8-9ish per card for sub and return postage from PSA is my current estimate, and I'll get them sent off. When they come back, I'll notify everyone and we can calculate the return postage/insurance from me to you.

I don't think you can combine tallboys with regular reholders. I tried and PSA made me split them up. It was a high dollar cards (1965 Namath), so it was still worth it.

ttt--- Come on guys, Bob said we have about 20 reholders so far and the more we can get in one sub then the cheaper it will be for everyone. Dig out those scratched, cracked, or broken slabs and get em fresh again image

I can add 2 more, making it total of 5 for me.

I can add 1 more, make mine 6 total.

The reason the number keeps going up is because ebay sellers do not know how to take care of slabs. I wonder if they just keep them in a bag with paper clips and pins.

    The worst is big boyd.

I also would like an update. Bob has several hundred dollars of my cards in his possession with the reholdering group sub in addition to piggybacking a sub with him and I have had no contact from him since March 29th. I had earlier purchased $500 in 67's and 68's from him and he delivered but over 3 weeks with no contact is not cool when he has my 66 Mantle PSA 7 nq amongst several others. He emailed other people that he was mailing the cards on April 15th and appears nobody has received their cards. He lives in Texas and I live in Missouri so I should have for sure had mine today but I didn't even get contacted that he was going to send them out. There is not a good reason for no contact in over 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!

Have I voiced my frustration lately with no communication from bking since March 29th as well as not receiving my cards? I guess I am going to have to take the next step of starting a new thread if I haven't received them by Monday to let the other board members know. UGGGHHHHHHH
