*GRADE POSTED* A couple tougher guess the grades....1917 D Lincoln and 1915 P Lincoln

Two of you were the closest but no one guessed them both correctly. PCGS gave the 1917 D AU-55 and the 1915 an MS-63. These grades imho are completely accurate. Prior to sending them in I graded the 1917 D an AU-50 and the 1915 an MS-64 brn.

I will wait longer for everyone to get a chance at this one....

The 17-D has a 35 obverse and a 25 reverse so I'll guess it graded VF-30. I'm assuming the weak wheat lines are a strike issue and not wear, it's possible that PCGS downgraded this to a VF25. I like to see a little more definition on the top of the ear before calling a Lincoln XF.

The 15-P has just a tiny bit of friction on the obverse and that one nick in the M of AMERICA, it should be a 58 all day.

The 17 D in my view is an xf40 coin. There is a distracting mark on the face is why I think it could be in a vf35 holder.

Like I always said, if they graded by large format pictures, everyones grade average would drop significantly.

very cool post , not easy to grade from a picture sometimes image
  • droopyddroopyd Posts: 5,381 ✭✭✭
I'm not real keen on either coin at the posted grades. Maybe it's the photos, but the 17-D just doesn't appear to have the eye appeal I'd want in an AU55 even if technically it's all there. And the 15-P is a "market graded" AU58 that probably shouldn't have been given higher than a 62 (and I don't lik the spots).
