circulated Merc giveaway - Winner is ....

Since I have been the beneficiary of a few giveaways I'll do one of my own. I collect mainly circulated coins, so that's what I have to give away. This would be a good starter set for someone interested in collecting circulated Mercs, but won't do anything for those of you that like high-end stuff.

The prize is a group of circulated Mercs from the 40's.

Guess the number I have to give away, and you get the whole group.

If there is a tie, the winner will be drawn at random.

Contest closes at 9:00 pm Pacific on Thursday the 4th.

I need to clarify this after reading some of the guesses so far - a2labmom had the right idea. This is a group of unique date/mint mark coins so the max is 18. So, those of you who guessed something higher than 18 might want to guess again!

    Webster's Dictionary defines "group" as 13 members. Besides, I was born in '58, so 5 & 8 are my lucky numbers (although they've never won anything for me!), and 5+8=13. So that's my guess!

    I'd love it if there were 100 and I won, but being more realistic, I would say that the group consists of 5 mercs

    Well, I think I'll try approaching this logically. Since there are approximately 18 dimes available in the 40's (not counting micro s and the 2 42/1 varieties), I would venture to guess....hmmm...let's see...my guess is...

    a2labmom has the right idea - this is a group of unique date/mint mark coins so the highest number possible is 18. If you guessed higher than 18 you might want to guess again!image

    The correct answer was 12 and I put asnooker into the hat since 12 was the first guess and a tie was to be broken by random draw.

    If I don't hear from asnooker by then, I'll give them away to someone else. airplanut - send me a list of the coins I sent you (senior moment, I can't remember image). You will get the remaining unique ones in the set since you were the other right answer. The remaining four mercs will go to one of the original contestants by random draw.

    Ok everyone, airplanenut gets the remainder of the original prize.

    I put everyone else's name in a list, assigned a number 1-19, and had a coworker give me three random numbers in that range. The third one is the winner .......
