It would be easy to get silver certified as WTC recovery--buy one silver eagle that has been certified and then melt it into the pot with as many ounces as you need. They don't say all the silver is WTC recovery. not defending them, just describing their technique. --Jerry

Interesting article! it seems that what they do is perfectly legal, still they got sued.

This is the coin that has the 'stand up towers'... you can stand 'em up and knock 'em down as many times as you want.

This is too bizarre even for my bizarre coin collection.

Non issue in my mind. I don't particularly see this as offensive or in poor taste. It is what it is. Just a coin from a non commissioned mint.

And just a little background on my perspective on 9/11. I worked overseas for the US government and spent several months of discomfort, having travel restricted, working hours increased, heightened security making it almost impossible to get on the base. Coming to work hours early to make it to work on time, etc. Since 9/11 I've been to Iraq 6 times and Afghanistan 3 times.

It's just a stupid coin. The sales pitch is what makes it leave a bad taste.

There is no law against bad taste.

I would never have one these things in my collection, but that's no reason to waste the government's, the court's and the Federal Trade Commission's time and our money chasing after this no-class mint operation. Once more Chucky Schumer and New York Senator Ms. No-name are grandstanding to show what great Americans they are while they waste our money on a non-issue.

It's interesting that Elliot Spitzer, who did his part for the economy to subsidizing the hooker trade, has had a hand in it too. In Spitzer’s case his hooker friend and the National Collector’s Mint share some something common. They are both out to “rotate” their customers if you follow my drift. The trouble is the first activity is illegal while the second one isn't so long as the company does not tout the "coin's" great potential as an investment.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

This is something new. Appears to be a Liberian "coin," though you couldn't tell it from the picture.

Maybe the politicians could devote some of their efforts to getting the Muslim mosque built next to Avram Freedberg's company headquarters.

Heh! They've already got plenty of porno shops around Ground Zero, maybe Freedberg even has a piece of that action.
