Couple NEWPs and a specific gravity visualization.

Finally received my order from Gainsville. I really like the fractional size of these coins. I may purchase another 60 just so I have an even 100....especially on this wonderful dip in prices!

The cylinder is also a newp. It is 1 kilogram of 99.5% pure tungsten. With a specific gravity of almost the same as gold, this little cylinder is SHOCKINGLY heavy for its size! I included a photo of a 1 kilo silver bar so you can see just how dramatic the difference really is.

i do like the gold "dos pesos", what is the fineness and "fraction"

( i am too busy to look at Gainsville, atm)

How so? Is it because one object is a cylinder and the other is a bar?

No, because you don't have a picture of the kilo bar next to the kilo cylinder. That would help people visualize it a bit better, I'd imagine.

Well, I noticed that too, but the hand is not the same distance from the lens in each respective picture, so that might be slightly confusing to some of the visually challenged. image

    You didn't ask, but...

one Dos Pesos is 1.5g pure gold, total wt 1.66g.

42 "pesos" is thus 31.5g or just a hair over one troy oz. pure gold. This holds constant for the other Mexican peso denominations.

The dos pesos appear to weigh about as much as a U. S. gold dollar.

Sure takes a lot of gold dos pesos to hold that dollar down!

Seriously, are these restrikes or originals (and how can you tell?).

For what I know, you can't tell since they are made with the same die.
Though, the 2-peso restrikes are dated 1945.
I think that most of the ones we see around are restrikes.
