    I'll take it.

lmao. I offered $360 right after he listed this with best offer, then he puts $350 on it and I said in the thread I'd take it. Of course I get a pm this morning saying it had been sold to a previous customer. I guess a $360 offer on an item he lists at $350 is a lowball offer? This guy is an alt and I can't wait to see if he follows through with the set lot purchase, or comes up with some kind of story.

I forgot which amendment guarantees the right to buy anything you want.image

EDIT: yeah, I know I'm being an a$$, but maybe he just doesn't want to sell to you. Not passing judgement, just offering a possible reason.

OP - sorry for derailing. Carry on....

lol, you think that's the reason? obviously, I'm just trying to understand why. His entire basis for telling me not to contact him was because of my "lowball" offers, which weren't even lowball. I offered MORE than his asking price on this one when he had it as "best offer" and he still won't sell to me.

I have no idea why that extra 10 bucks you offered wasn't enough to get him to change his mind
Why don't you offer $370? I bet he'll come around...

I could offer $500 and it wouldn't matter at this point, I get it. The thing I'm saying is that his entire basis for blocking me was ill founded. I still have yet to see a lowball offer that I made him on anything.

A mild try at ending the derailment:

IIRC, your published offer on the other thread (bad form to publish, IMO) was based on essentially knocking off the EBay/PP fees and offering him the same as he'd net there. Now, I don't see the logic in trying to sell something here for the same price as EBay. The idea, for me, would be to net closer to "market" by avoiding the fees, not by admitting defeat and simply "giving" the fees to the buyer instead. So yeah, that may be what he meant by lowball.

Again, hope this ends the derailment. I know it will end my part in it.

  • Me corvette, I sold it lower than your offer. I've seen how you act, and slam, on the board, and I would prefer not to deal with you.

    alt.
  • It is not about "lowballing". It is about your quality of character. Once I receive exclamations in a PM, I'm done.
And you are correct, you could have offered $500 and I would have refused.

    MOVE ON.

Sorry you have to go through this baby chit Doug.

Glad to hear you sold the other sets.

Good luck on this last one.

Doug, is definitely not an ALT. I had a perfect transaction with Doug on a 76 set. Exactly as advertised. Buy with confidence.

Here's a newsflash, I have a pertinent question related to the actual original post....is the set still for sale?

  • << <i>Here's a newsflash, I have a pertinent question related to the actual original post....is the set still for sale? >>

The OP stated that he sold it to someone else a few posts up.

Tommy, if this person doesn't want to do business with you, what difference does it make what his reasons are? You've done plenty of successful transactions on the boards; no reason to stay fixated on this seller. IMO you'd be doing yourself a favor if you let it drop.

Alt means that he thinks you have been here before as someone else.

At least that is what it is supposed to mean.

    Who knows with this clown.

    Good for you.

I just recently started conversing with Doug a few days ago. He barely knew me and openly offered to help me out on completing my 73 baseball set. I know who I will deal with in the future and who I will not have any dealings with. The other guy tried to low ball me on a completely graded 71 baseball set and I got so frustrated I just put it back in the closet. I would still like to sell it. I don't have it published but it would be the number 21 set on the registry. All nq. Maybe I'll offer it up on the board again soon. Hope everyone has a great CU day.
