    The 1896-S is okay, but the 1895-O would be off my radar screen because the initials that are carved into Ms. Liberty's neck.

    I can appreciate honest well worn coins, but mutilated coins don’t do much for me.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible.     Seems that most AG-VG 1895-0's I've run across look something like that one...as if there is a curse on the date to force owners to mutilate them.
