lol, so I make this clown an offer of $425 for the '73 set he had priced at $450 and he said no thanks. Now I send him a pm offering $1450 for this lot which he has priced at $1750 or best offer and he says not to contact him again. I'd venture to say that I buy as much stuff on here as anyone and I pay immediately. Is there anything wrong with making offers on here now?
  • Nothing wrong with making an offer. Also nothing wrong with rejecting the offer. Also nothing wrong with "blocking the bidder" which is really what he did here.

I don't think he needs to give you an explanation. He was up front, and seems it will save you the bother of making anymore offers.

Maybe best offer to him is $1749.99. JMO

Currently collecting 1934 Butterfinger, 1969 Nabisco, 1991 Topps Desert Shield (in PSA 9 or 10), and 1990 Donruss Learning Series (in PSA 10).
  • So everyone that does not take your offer is a clown?

Pretty harsh. My dealings with the OP have been great. I saw on another thread where he gave somebody cards to fill in their set.

no, when did I ever say anything about anyone else that didn't take my offer? Whenever I list something for sale (always at or below VCP), I welcome offers and always respond respectfully. If someone is willing to pay an amount I would love for them to send me that amount and I can decide whether I will take it or not. This guy asks for best offer, much like BIN or best offer, and I responded with an offer. I then get told never to contact him again. Now, he has blocked one of the best buyers and sellers on the board and someone with cash in hand to buy any item for any amount.

If he listed this lot on ebay for $1750 and got that price, after fees he would see about $1550, so $1450 is not a "low ball" offer by any means.

<< <i>The HIGHEST price paid for a 4 was $330, The HIGHEST price paid for a 5 was $350, Average VCP on a 6 is $357, and average VCP on a 6.5 is $421. How in the world is this FOUR worth $425? This is as bad as 707. >>

Tommy, since you are a USED car salesman and use to lowballing people....You probably are use to making offers and not worrying about people taking offense. But when you get in someones thread and start quoting prices for what YOU think they should be charging it just isnt right. People can ask the price they want and the market will reveal the price they attain.

This isn't really directed at anyone, but if you have a price in mind that you would like to get for your items, ask for that price and forget the best offer thing. If you ask for a best offer, you will not have people jumping on your asking price, you will have people offering 40-50% of what you are asking. Best offer should really be left on ebay.

lol, I'm not a used car salesman, but thanks. I owned a car lot and own a pawn shop. I'm a VP of Marketing at a marketing firm now.

How can someone take offense to a $425 offer for a $450 set and a $1450 offer for a lot of sets? It's not like I offered him $1000 for the lot.

Having a pawn shop, I can tell you that if you pay retail for stuff you quickly go out of business. I can make an offer on something and it's the sellers right to decline or accept. I have never lowballed anyone on here. I offer fair wholesale market value most of the time or a price that I feel comfortable that I can turn it around quickly. The majority of the time that is above what someone could get for it if they went through ebay and paid all of the fees. If you want a certain price for something then say "FIRM" or don't say "or best offer".

As for the VCP thing. When I see a card that is several hundred above VCP then I may ask why is that card so much more valuable than the others that have sold in that grade or I might offer average VCP. If I priced my stuff way above VCP then I'd see a problem with it, but all of my stuff is priced at average VCP or below because I buy it right.
  • Corvette man, I simply asked you not to inquire or contact me. I was warned by others, then received kudos after you continued barking.
And your story on the board is INCORRECT. I can not tolerate people that curse in PM's at me, or lie.
  • This is not what happened ...

How can someone take offense to a $425 offer for a $450 set

$425 was your final offer, not your first offer.

You jerk me around on the Mantle card.

You curse at me in your PM's, then blast on the board.

I, along with those that PM's me got a good laugh out of it. I do thank you for that.

    Best Wishes.

Fees would not run that high, as an auction starting at the price he wants it should not be any higher then $125. Since this is not eBay you should consider that the price he lists for over there may be higher to account for any fees that come with it.

Hard to forget after the last job related fiasco of a thread you brought this up in.

lol, I offered $400 and you said you couldn't take it and then I asked it you'd meet me in the middle at $425. I have no idea what you are talking about with the Mantle card. I made an offer on the thread and you sent me a pm saying that you were listing it on ebay, no further pm's from either of us. How the hell is that jerking you around? When I make an offer on anything and the person accepts then I pay immediately, no delay, no back and forth, etc....

I've never lied about a single thing on here. A few people like to make up stuff about me because they have some kind of jealous rage or hate to see someone make money or be able to do anthing they please because they've worked to get it, and yes that statement is directed right at WinPitcher just so there is no confusion.
