Isn't it great how some people can degrade a members question and turn it into a spoof fest?
It's the little things like these that turn the forum sour for "serious" members who would like to have constructive discussions.
In a real world setting I highly doubt a stranger would walk up to me and degrade my comments unless they were looking to pick a battle, it really takes a lot of courage to do it over the internet doesn't it....
It really shows how big some of our members are.

it affects us all, because of the effects of overthreading.
seriously.
<< <i>This forum is a shell of what it once was. That is why most of the best contributing members have move to bigger and better forums and why I hardly ever post any more. Seems like every thread is someone trying to be funny or be the big man on campus by hiding behind their computer. Obnoxious is more like it. >>
I agree with you...
it is not just the newbies either, one of the highest ranking members is guilty of this...

And posting spoofs to get your point through?
Classic case of introverted collector's who have no time to discuss nonsense...right?

"Sorry to do this here guys, I have talked with some people and have looked on-line and I get different answers from both. Do you guys who line in snowy climates rake your roof or not? If so, how far? Do you rake the whole roof? Do you rake just a foot or two up from the eave? I have heard not to rake at all, I have heard only a foot (so not to go above the ice and water barrier), and I have heard to rake as much as you can reach. Wondering what you guys do?
Thanks in advance." - Downtown1974

I did state it was O.T. I dont spoof any threads and very rarely stray away from sportscards. Just looking for some opinions on the subject.
Last time I checked I still had my constitutional rights.

<< <i>I agree with everything you've said. It seems some members mentality is just attack, attack, attack! It makes me hesitant to post threads because I get so tired of it all....... >>
and other members it is to deny, deny, deny right? If you dont want to read a thread dont open it, however with the closure of the open forum, the spoofs should stay to a minimum. BTW I have only seen ONE spoof thread in quite q while, does someone have skin in this game?
For any non member lurkers reading this you're better suited not actually becoming a member but make the search function your best friend.
A handful of members feel seniority in letting you know to shut your mouth and be careful of what you say because this is their territory.
You are not welcome here at the PSA forums.

you covered the topic of slabs and fire and safety in your very own thread a year and half ago....what's to prevent you from just renewing your own discussion?
it didn't take me but a moment to recall it was you who covered the SAME topic already.
not to play policeman. don't matter much to me, but your name is attached to several front page threads and mine is attached to a mockery.
have a laugh. it's no big deal. seriously.
Dear Pot, I am very sorry to start a thread that had nothing to do with sports cards and memorabilia.

I agree. I hope those threads RIP!
If you have a set of rules and regulations for here, you should post them. Many will listen, many will not.
with any forum, there will be differences of opinions and of course a few bad apples.
Since I have been on this forum, I have learned a lot of useful information about sportscards, memorabilia, coins, ebay, scam artists, reprints, counterfeits ect ect.
I also have made friends and done business with quite a few members too and it is sort of like a 2nd family to me.
I miss the open forum and would love to see it revived.
I have learned to live with the good & bad aspects of this forum and hope that it can continue without any major changes.
This would be an awful boring forum without the humor, real life experiences & the occasional blowup flame war arguments mixed in with sportscards, coins & memorabilia.
just remember sometimes the cure can be worse than the disease, the one thing that doctors need to make are immaturity pills for this forum, because I believe a lot of the problems (50% or more) that occasionally occur are due to immaturity, egos and frustration of everyday living.
Spoken words can be cruel & hurtful, so please think a little or count to 10 before posting something that might hurt or embarrass a fellow/family forum member.
this is my opinion and if anyone wants to flame away or disagree with what I have said feel free to do so (it is one of your constitutional rights) .
disclaimer; my statements are directed to all forum friends/enemies/family members even the immature little rednecks typing behind a keyboard bad butts. (humor?) oops time for me to take my meds.

Yes, there are IDIOTIC arguments on these boards, but the good threads HEAVILY outweigh the garbage ones.
Remember guys ... we are talking about C-A-R-D-S ... not life and death. Let's enjoy our passion about cards and not turn so many things into a pissing match.
Edited to add: THREE posters above me

If someone were to ask me to name the classiest poster on these boards, Downtown1974, you would be the first person I would name. I'm not sure I even understand the OP's point, but YOU are the last person who should be worried about the content of what you post on these boards.

I agree Bob (Downtown) has always been a classy poster, I did not see whatever the spoof was, but knowing Bob it could not have been that bad or in poor taste.
+1 Downtown1974

Steve, I will not make it a pissing match. I think I may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. I assume someone angered Akuracy and my O.T. thread got dragged into it. Maybe it was the straw that broke the camels back for him. I dont know. As far as I am concerned, its all water under the bridge. Im not harboring any ill will against him.

<< <i>I remember the time when a forum member posted a thread about losing his job. You could tell this guy was down in the dumps. Several members were very sympathetic to his situation and offered thier prayers that he would find work soon. But, seeing how it was an off-topic thread I immediately responded to him to remove that rubbish from the forum and that he better find work soon, because I refuse to support his lazy, off-topic, a$$ with my hard earned tax dollars. It was not well received by other members, but I took comfort in the fact that I had done my part to keep things on track here. >>
Why in the world would you choose to be such a complete tool? >>
He wasn't being serious...well, that did kind of happen, but downtown was not the offender, offended or the like.
I have always found Bob's postings to be quite level headed. My only problem is he lost his avatar months ago and I liked the old one. It was very Billy Joel downtown-ish.

I would always be willing to lend a hand to any of my fellow board members. I think alot of OT threads have helped many people here. Such as prayers sent to members and thier families in times of tragedy, Stowns rides for charity. etc. I guess I just see the good in alot of people here besides card collecting.
When things around here start to frustrate me and I start taking on water, its then that I see the sig lines of guys like Doug and Bunker and that rights my ship.
<< <i>Yes Mark you are correct. Arex, I was being sarcastic. I didnt respond in that manner. I was just pointing out that some Off topic threads can be useful to some people. Maybe people do like to think they have friends here. Maybe we can help each other in more ways than just collecting. >>
Then I apologize and will delete my previous post.
Again I apologize.
