PCGS grades just posted-Please come share my happiness

Ok, first of all, most folks saw my first post back in November about my house being broken into. Only a handful of you know that my house was broken into a second time on January 3rd (nearly two weeks ago now). Needless to say, my holiday season has not been great and I have not gotten good sleep since the first break in. In any case, I decided to send a handful of stuff in to PCGS in mid-December and the grades just posted. A couple have been posted on other threads and I will note those below. Here they are:

Line # Item # Cert # PCGS No. CoinDate Denomination Variety Country Grade
1 1 88888888 3924 1914 5C US VF25 This is a 4/3 variety, though not noted. image
2 1 88888888 4019 1943/2-P 5C US VF20 $$0.50 cherrypick from the local store.
3 1 88888888 4076 1964-D 5C US XF40 This is the E PLURIDUS UNUM coin that was a subject of another thread. I bumped it the other day to revive it.
4 1 88888888 5026 1940-S 10C US MS66 CPG S/S variety, pop 3 with one higher-by two grades at that.
5 1 88888888 41097 1880 $1 8/7 Overdate US MS61 VAM 6 Spikes. I understand this is a scarce coin in MS.
6 1 88888888 7138 1882-O/S $1 O/S Strong US MS61 VAM 3 Early Die State. I understand this is also a scarce coin in MS.
7 1 88888888 7308 1888-O $1 Doubled Die Obv US XF40 I bought this in an NTC VF30 slab off eBay a year or so ago for $55.00. This proves to buy the coin and not the slab.

Yes, the varieties are noted on the holder. The 43/2 is noted, the 8/7 is noted and the o/s is noted and the DDO is noted. I did not pay for the VAM listing or the CPG listing. I may decide to do it at a later date if I decide to sell them. Right now, I don't really want to sell them.

1880-P VAM 6 is a tough coin in Mint State, and they basically never come up for sale in PCGS holders. In fact, the only one I've ever seen offered for sale was Leroy Van Allen's MS64, which happened to be at the FUN show for $13,500. It had previously sold in a 2008 Heritage auction for $12,650 including the commission.
    When in doubt, don't.

Nice job. I would really like an 1880 8/7 as it is one of the few coins for my DMPL that is an exception coin.

I am anxious to get the coins back in the mail some time next week. I will attempt to post some scans of the good ones. image

  • Very nice, congrads!!! You deserve a bit of cheering up, I dont know how I would feel after being robbed twice.

I did not at first. I planned on getting one soon, but I guess I waited too long. I did not expect them to come back after only 45 days. But, I am happy to report that the house now has a good solid security system.
