The Rock was an awesome wrestler and while it was a massive blow to wrestling when he left he made the right move.
This guys ring work was second to none and he killed it on the mic!
We saw him in Tampa during his run on top and there were nearly 20,000 strong chanting Rocky, Rocky!!! It was awesome!
Looking for 1970 MLB Photostamps

"second to none"? I loved The Rock but there was never a day in his career when he was a top 10 guy in the ring, let alone "second to none".

There are only a handfull of guys in the past thirty years that could work as good as The Rock. I am not a huge Shawn Michaels fan but he could, Ricky Steamboat most definately, Ric Flair of course, Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Dusty Rhodes, Macho Man in the late 80's, and maybe just a few more.
During his run he was having the best matches and only Steve Austin was even close on the mic.
There are plenty of other guys like Bruiser Brody, Terry Funk, Jimmy Snuka that were very exciting to watch and long term mean more to the business but Rock has to be given his due as a guy who worked really hard to master his craft.
<< <i>Rock was easily in the top ten and if he had stayed with wrestling could have been the best of all time.

Remember, my friend, there is pro wrestling outside of the United States. In the 1990s and early 2000s, the best pro wrestling was in Japan.
Rock was a lot of fun in the ring, to be sure, but he was never, ever "the best".
Note that I'm not talking about his mic work, which was off-the-charts great (for the most part). Strictly talking in-ring.

he could have been the best fake wrestler of all time!
Was, and will always be the best.
Rock could move great for a guy his size and had excellent carisma in the ring. I will certainly agree guys like Tiger Mask or Great Muta and I am sure others on your list from Japan were better workers.
Steve,
Andre The Giant was one of a kind and there will never be anyone like him again I don't believe in the wrestling business.
