Error fans: I have a Jefferson Nickel where the coin is split into two pieces through the edge of th

I have only the tails side of the coin. I have no idea where the heads side is.

What type of error is this called? Is it called a split planchet?

How common or uncommon is this type of error?

Finally, how rare and how valuable is this type of error?

If I had to guess from the appearance of the reverse side of the coin, I would say the coin was minted in the 1970's.

The tails side of the coin shows some wear, so it is not MS and it must have been passed around in circulation. Further, the side opposite the tails side of the coin shows a rough texture and ghost images of both Jefferson's bust and Monticello.

A very cool error coin.
