Is this Franklin toning desireable?

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer...but picked up the proof set because it had a beautiful blue/violet nickel that I had to have...this one on the other hand? The color isn't off, it is really that orange.

  • That PVC spot of the bell kills the coin. Otherwise orange patina is somewhat common and unless the proof Franklin is near flawless and the color more pastel than thick, I'd pass.

Not to me... and that spot is really ugly... dip it. Cheers, RickO

I was literally going to add to the bottom of the OP that "Ricko need not reply." But I'm glad you didn't disappoint.

I'm pretty sure the spot isn't PVC, as I cut it out of the cellophane myself, however the glue between the coins had come loose, so my best guess is that it's where a piece of glue had become lodged on the coin.

The spot is a killer. What a bummer.
