Mark, when I was a kid, I had a big choice to make. Was I going to buy a 39 D Nickel in Unc., or a full steps 50D (in Unc). I chose the latter, and wound up SOL in a big way. Around that time, I also bought a roll of circ. 55S Cents instead of a 27 S Stander in Fine.

This coin looked almost identical to one a friend of mine had back in 2009 (NGC MS67* $550). But I rechecked auction photos and they aren't the same coin based on marks. This one looks to be a 66. Very nice coin.
Early 1980's I visited a coin shop in Brookfield IL and the guy had two (count 'em) exquisite rainbow toned 39-D's (not rev. of 40 tho).
Brother & I each got one. I don't know what he did w/his, but mine was one of the first 67s made at PCGS. Sold for a huge profit % wise, but how I wish I had kept it.

I used to live in that neighborhood in the mid 70s but did not go into that store. I was in college and not collecting at the time.

Stewart, that is absolutely none of your business.
$550 and $635, and I'll let you decide which number is which
For those who are curious and/or have asked, the coin is graded MS66.

Were there many Jefferson nickels at FUN FL?
it seems the Jefferson series has slid in the last few years
from a high when Heritage had over 700 listed in auction/sale to now
(well maybe it was a well orchestrated pump and dump of the Omaha Bank Hoard)
