For those unfamiliar, he makes a solid claim that throughout history, it's a centralized non-governmental bank with the power to print money, and the necessity of the nation to borrow that money at interest, that causes inescapable debt of the people who are powerless to overcome that debt. He proclaims that government printing money itself, with no underlying debt, and outside of a non-governmental bank, is the answer to prosperity.
Considering what he's suggested: a debt-free money, controlled by the government rather than a Federal Reserve, could work. However, the elephant in the room is that the government has no ability to control its spending now. So I don't understand how they could keep from running the presses 'round the clock and spinning us into hyperinflation anyway.

A gold standard under such a scenario would make it at least harder ( though not impossible) for government to engage in military adventurism or misguided social programs.
