Destined for the furnace.

Along with literally tons of useless junk I inherited I found this:

Included were a couple of small "coins" that matched up to the holes in the web. They are
jut shy of four grams and appeared to have been milled in the center of the "reverse." I have a couple
pounds of the shavings.

Any ideas on what these "coins" might have been destined for?
The note says it's sterling. Any reason to doubt that?

Thanks.

Somebody was punching blanks for something. Would be interesting to know their end use. Any idea where they originated?

  • I don't know where they originally came from; I'm guessing my uncle bought this as scrap from
someone with a coin press. I know he melted silver to make his own jewelry.

Franklin Mint? Most of their rounds & bars were mad of Sterling Silver....Just a wild guess.
