If it's any consolation, the typical time frame for the return of unopened product from PSA is two months, as the pack has to be shipped to Steve from PSA to determine if it's authentic and then shipped back to PSA from Steve to be graded before being shipped to you from PSA.

Edit: Do you mean you sent it in on Nov. 14? If it was shipped on Oct. 14, it's well past 53 days now..

I guess there is a good reason behind all the shipping of the packs back and forth, but I don't know what it is. Wouldn't it be a lot easier if all unopened material that is sent in for grading was shipped DIRECTLY to Steve? If they are good, off the PSA they go. If not, return to sender.

Think of all the time it takes and miles the pack travels if I send in a pack. Long Island - California - Illinois - California - Long Island.

Does anyone know the reason it is done this way?

  • After reading this thread i think i will send my packs to GAI. No way i'm going to wait 2 months.

20 business days in the average month, so 53 days is about right from Oct 14th to now.

Would it not make more sense for the unopened packs to be shipped DIRECTLY to Steve and then to PSA???

It may make "common" sense, but it doesn't make business sense. If packs go directly to Steve, that REALLY blurs the already blurry line in that relationship. With the packs going to PSA, getting logged and hopefully inspected for grade and obvious issues, it provides at least some degree of control over the process. I'd really like to know what sort of "chain of custody" exists in this process, as the potential for all sorts of problems exists. There, I've said too much. I haven't said enough.

  • Steve has told me in the past he will stop in CA when his schedule allows it... who knows maybe they fly him in once a month or so to authenicate all the packs.

Could be. Either way, I'm sure we're all deeply grateful that 1neatstuff shared his complaint with us, because let's be honest- one thing this board doesn't have nearly enough of are posters who will whine about PSA's turnaround times.

I think of shipping damage or poped seals while in transit. Has to be a better (for us) way.

How long does PSA "say" the turnaround will be?

I rarely post on these threads - but 53 days is a bit much IMO.

edit: did you request it be graded or a "shrine" build in it's name? image
