After much thought I decided it's a 2-way tie. Oddly enough they're both foreign coins... even though I don't consider myself a foreign coin collector:
Without question, this was my favorite purchase of the decade, if not all time. It is a scarce coin (about 150 known) of my favorite denomination, historic because of the Civil War link and likelihood that it was struck by the Confederacy, and I more than quintupled my money when I sold it late in the decade.
Picked up three raw 2006 W 3 coin gold eagle anniversary sets for 4400 each from the same seller a few months back. Eight of the coins came back 70 with one of the regular proofs coming in at 69. It made for a good flip to fund my passion $20 gold.

Tough question. Probably this one. Nothing real special, except that it's a totally honest circulated coin of a type I really like, with an appealing look and no particular marks or distractions beyond solid pocket wear and 180 years of grime.
An unopened 1961 proof set - purchased at a show from a first-time dealer in 2004 - that contained this doubled die reverse Franklin. PCGS PF66. Ching!
