Anyone else decided to start a new series in 2011?

I have toyed around with Liberty Seated Halves in the past having acquired about a dozen nice examples. But this year I plan on making them a focus. VF-AU will be my target. And I will be cherry picking for the WB varieties.

Draped Bust Halves. Not including 1796 or 1797.
All coins kept in bank vaults.
    PCGS Registries
    Box of 20
    SeaEagleCoins: 11/14/54-4/5/12. Miss you Larry!
  • I'm committing to finishing the sets already in motion! Most of what I want are individual coins... One each from Charlotte and Dahlonega, a Classic $2.50 or $5, and a 1911-D $2.50. I'll be lucky if I can get half of those, unless I gut my current collection or get nothing else in 2011. I expect to finish my 12 coin gold type set soon; I'm one coin away, and it's not even a hard one. I also want to finish my Peace dollar set.

Looks like we will be shopping the same place as I was able to fill all the Barber dates except one this year.
But I'm just doing a date set at this time.

I'm still plugging ahead on my seated halves date set (raw in VG condition,) but I've decided to start a second set in 2011. I'll be doing a certified quarter type set. Here's how I'm defining it:

    1. Draped Bust (large eagle)
    2. Capped Bust (large)
    3. Capped Bust (small)
    4. Seated Liberty (no motto...probably arrow & rays)
    5. Seated Liberty (motto)
    6. Barber
    7. Standing Liberty (type 1)
    8. Standing Liberty (type 2/3)
    9. Washington (1932-1964)
    10. Washington (bicentennial)

That's it. I want to keep it small, so that I will be able to be patient enough to find REALLY nice examples of each.

No... I have enough with the series I already collect. Cheers, RickO

Not until I finish my current series. Spending funds on a new series will only delay/prevent me from accomplishing my current numismatic goals.

No, still doing my pinball impression, bouncing around looking for eye candy in any series. image

My biggest problem I have found with this series is that every attractive coin I have found is one of a handful of dates. 1853, 1858, 1877
