They've been on backorder several times but I don't know if they're sold out.
    ANA-LM, NBS, EAC
  • It doesn't even show them as being on backorder anymore... Just says they'll be available as of November 19, 2010.
  • I think they ended up around 750,000 total. Does anyone have a firm number? image

Mine arrived. Looked fine except for a few bits of lint and external capsule marks.

Mine is great....likely a 70, but since ownership adds a grade, well... a 69 is OK... image Cheers, RickO

I think NN's mint stats website indicated somewhere around 830,000+ sold now.
  • How does 830,000 compare to other years.... high or low?

Based on what I've read from bulk purchasers,
80%++ have been returned because they did
not think they'd grade PR 70.

People like that cause the sell outs so soon after
the release. I have one coin [ ordered two ] that
has a damaged capsule. I'm returning it for a replacement.
I hope they are willing to replace it now.

    So it would seem.

And is this the quickest sellout of Proof Silver Eagles?
  • What may help the 2010 proofs the most is a rise in 2011 price to $50-$55.

That and a continued demand from those pumping them as IRA investments.
  • So if 80% were returned, does that mean there's only around 166,000 of these floating around?

Don't think for a minute that the mint didn't ship those right out to someone else even though they said that they would not.

Hmmm... sold out, eh? I wonder if that will interrupt my request that they replace the 5 they originally sent me... I returend them all, due to poor quality (IMO), and requested replacement...

Ooops... just checked Mint website... says they shipped replacements 12/21...

80% returned...not even close. The after market hit $53 per on these for a breif period, and still is above issue price. Why would you return them when you can sell them for more on the open market.

My guess is more like .0008%

Well, its about 3 hours later, and I just got back from retrieving my second set of 5 ASE's from the UPS facility (They tried to deliver 3 times, but I was out for the holidays - they wanted $6 to attempt a 4th delivery). After opening these up, I'm pleased (mostly, I think) to report that each coin is in far nicer condition than the first set... these are keepers, though I of course missed any opportunity to obtain FS - that is, if I'd wanted to send them into PCGS for grading...

Under the circumstances, I've chosen to leave them raw for now, but am very pleased I chose to send them all back on the first go-round...

I was very pleased with the last shipment of 5 I got also. I got 3 70's and 2 69's , and am not sorry I sent 45 back even though I have not seen the money returned yet.
