Mint error or post mint damage? IHC

I have pointed out the area on the photo.
Do you think its post mint damage or something that happened at the mint? This is a copper nickel IHC.
I edited in a few more photos see if that helps ?

I'm betting the red arrows got added after the mint. image
    Pic doesn't show enough.

Whatever it is, it's so frigg'n small no one would care. Why would you
look at a coin magnified to this extent?

    It would grade.

Your picture was too dark to really determine much, so I pasted it into my photo editing software and brightened it to where I could see more, but I still didn't see anything that looked unusual?

  • Your thinking to small there is a line that breaks the dentils
from the first arrow to the last arrow I will endeavor to get a better photo but its plainly visible.

    My opinion says machine doubling.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

not sure, but it doesn't seem significant enough to add value.

  • Pictures are not that good but from what I do see...

I believe you have some MDD (machine damage doubling) look at the bottom of the letters of ONE CENT...
it could just be the lighting but that would be my guess... it isn't anything that anyone would care about &
it does NOT add any value to the coin...

  • I will drop the other shoe now I cracked this coin out and
submitted it and it came back geniune 98.
That is pretty much the only mark on the coin?
I guess I will send it back ATS they did not have any problems with it the first time? When I get it back I will post some better images and ask again thanks for looking.

Looks like post-mint damage to me, it is possible the coin was once encased I see the line breaking up the denticles, if this were something unusual like an in-collar double strike you would see the doubled denticles around the entire periphery of the coin, not just in one area. More likely something was pressed into the denticles in that area, which is why I suspect it was once encased.

    I concur. Encased.
