eBay pick: 1883-CC Morgan

Came across this piece on eBay about a week ago. It was listed raw in a capital plastic. The BIN was ~$300, and it looked really nice in the picture, so I pulled the trigger.

Got it today. It needed a dip, so that's what I did. Surfaces are bright PL. Looks like a solid 66 with a far shot at 67.

    Is the pic post dip?

Anyway, at first glance, minimum 65, but I agree with you, probably a solid 66. The cheek is nice and clean, and looks to have minimal hits. Is it fully pl or semi-pl? Good pick up.
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

    Post dip and fully PL.

Pre dip it looked pretty ugly.

You might want to check it by the date looks like something might not of come off in the final rinse.
    Agree nice looking coin.

Very nice.... and if you post-dip rinsed it well, it should remain that way... Cheers, RickO

Remnants of a fingerprint. It might require a little extra attention

Could we get a 'before' photo? I tried to link the photo in the auction but can't. I don't feel it's my place to link the auction itself without your approval.

The toning actually looked great in the auction photo. In hand it was extremely milky and severely muted the luster.

I see a rather large cut on the reverse at 4 to 5 o'clock. Also plenty rim nicks including a rather large one at 7. I'm not as skilled as any of you here but wouldn't it limit the coin's potential grade?

Looks very clean, but that fingerprint might drive me nuts over time.

Would've never pulled the trigger myself from those photos.

Looks to me like everything will work out good in your favor!
