Fun Circulation Finds

braddickbraddick Posts: 24,522 ✭✭✭✭✭
I received this Jefferson back in change while purchasing a bagel down at the San Diego courthouse yesterday. It for whatever reason, intrigued me.

I'm even thinking of putting together a Dansco type set of the ugliest coins- with personality, of course (that are not heavily scratched or whatnot- ugly but not unattractive, if that's possible! Do you know what I mean?).

Here she is. Enjoy.

I do know what you mean, I've got a few things like that myself from pocket change, and a good start on a funky coin Dansco set.

    Yeeeeeeesss. Well. Tough to explain.

I suppose you're right. It's confusing and my weak attempt to explain failed.

jaypem is the closest I suppose to 'getting it'.

I love it! I call my collection "The Run Over by a Truck Collection"

    This is the star:

The year has been totally obliterated, no trace remains.

I will be scanning this aspect of my collection soon- possibly before the end of 2010. It includes things like the cent shown above down to coins with some minor damage like a huge gouge, a chunk missing, or slightly bent. Pretty much anything that is above and beyond normal circulation wear.

Here is a photo of the collection that I uploaded to my website in 2008...it's grown since then image The green Buffalo is actually part of my main collection, as it's the best example of a 1918 (the only example) I have. Yeah, it includes painted coins too.
