    I am familiar with this orange peel effect as it is pretty common on tired die jeffersons.

    But was the die actually pickled in this case? If so, why?

    ...just a guess here, bob. i think there was some type of chemical reaction between the copper over the

    zinc planchet. maybe a step (rinse?) was missed that might have resulted in the blistering. but why only

    one side, i don't know. image
