Seems odd. I mean the Statehoods were a presence right away when they came out. But these ATB coins? Zip! Zilch! Might as well be Presidential dollars!
The one I found (Yosemite, I believe) was also quite scuffy and a sorry-looking specimen. Might have even already been an AU58!
I've gotten a couple over the year. Each one I received was in change. I've asked at banks if they have any of the new quarters and always the answer is no.
I've gotten a Hot Springs and a Yosemite. I get quarter rolls from time to time for the laundry and rarely find anything past 2008. Territorial quarters show up every few rolls and I've never seen an ATB quarter in a roll.
<<Seems odd. I mean the Statehoods were a presence right away when they came out. But these ATB coins? Zip! Zilch! Might as well be Presidential dollars!>>
1) Mintages are small compared to Statehood quarters. 943,000,000 P Virginia versus 35,200,000 Northern Mariana Islands.
2) No longer automatically available to banks. Perhaps your FRB district doesn'r even have them.
3) Presidental dollar comparision does not compute. They are available to individual banks and I have no problem getting them. Now try getting the Native American ones at your bank.
I have seen a few in change here, strangely enough, since new coins are slow to hit this area (shield cents just starting to be prominent). Cheers, RickO
Got my first 2010 quarter earlier this week. A Yosemite. Not in the greatest shape but it's nice to actually get it in the year of issue.
Edit to add: 2010 P dimes and cents are commonplace. I've gotten half a roll of each from change. Some of them were in bad enough shape that they went in the spending jar in fact, but I have a decent supply of both.
<< <i>I've seen two Hot Springs quarters and two Yosemite quarters. That's it. >>
...that's 4 more than i've seen!!

Well for me the 2010-D cents is a whole other story. I went in last week to get $5 worth and pull the copper ones out.
Yes, you guessed it, ten rolls of 2010-D cents. I kept four rolls and put the rest back in the bank's change machine and the proceeds to my savings account.
On another note I did score a roll of the Presidential dollars, James Buchanan. Most of the roll looked like proof coins, very shiny. Unfortunately that means that every scratch looks huge and distracting.
<< <i>Lordmarcoven, you need to be looking for these in change, from stores etc etc.....

You might have to wait a few years to detect some in your digs. Welcome back! Let's hear about your recent adventures, something that I certainly will look forward to.
I have yet to see a single 2009 or 2010 dated quarter. I've seen a couple 2010 dimes and one 2010 nickel. Still waiting to see the 2009 cents (I did see a log cabin in "take-a-penny" tray once), although I have received a couple shield cents in change.
The only Prexy-Bucks I see in circulation are the ones I spend...
The new coins just don't show up around here (Pittsburgh).
A few hours ago my mom came back from the local Walgreens with two Mount Hood quarters. One is just about perfect, the other has a small but noticible scratch in the field.
But seriously, I've been fortunate to get a roll or two of each 2010 design from my local banks. I've seen only one in change, a Yosemite. I thought for sure mintages would start picking up as the economy recovers, but that does not appear to be the case (either the economy or mintages improving). My guess is that 90% of these are grabbed by people like myself and will only end up in circulation when we collectively decide that it's not worth hanging onto them anymore, or have to pay our heating bills.
<< <i>Never mind the Quarters, I'm still trying to find the pennies >>
Good point. I've seen quite a few of the Shield-reverse cents, but not many of the others. Maybe two or three log cabins, but they'd already gone splotchy and yukky-looking.
<< <i>Banks cannot order them. They could and did for the state quarters. >>
I've heard this several times and do not believe it, as both of my local banks get them consistently. Banks may not WANT to order them, but that's a different story.
2009 cents are common here. Every roll I do has at least two of them, it seems like. Only about half are still in good enough shape to save.
However, the log cabins are somewhat rare. (in perspective) A few months back on my birthday my brother gave me $50 in rolls to search, most of them cents. In those rolls, I only got about 3 log cabins, got about 8 of the log splitter, about a dozen each of the last two designs. Nearly 2 dozen 2010s.
All P mint except one of the log splitters.
I still need a Capitol and Sheild D for my collection, I traded for the first three 2009 Ds.
I heard several years ago from a bank in Colorado Springs that the companies that distribute coins started charging banks extra to provide new coins. Since this charge impacted profits at the banks, very few will intentionally get new coins. Even when they do, it will likely be only one box.
I've never heard anything different and assume this why finding new coins at banks is so difficult.
Now that I live in Dallas, I heard a branch of Bank of America had one box of Lincoln dollars and they gave them all away in a couple of days. I missed out.
Congrats, Gritsman, on your finding a bank or two that actually have & provide ATB Q's!! Wish I could find one around here just to get enough to fill holes in our collections......
How about the Pres $1's? Or Shield Cents?
No problem with Pres $1's here (although sometimes took a little time) until I hit a brick wall on the Lincolns.... But absolutely NO ATB Q's around here! SUX for the common collector........
I have managed to pull a few Shield cents from circ, and have gotten a few needed ATB Q's from the remains of a cut-up Mint Set.
Someone also mentioned the Native American $1's and Territorial Q's............ I was lucky enough to get a small free-shipped rolls of the NA $1's & still have 1 or 2 to open/trade (so far, all the ones I opened were D mint), and have a handful of each Territory Q still available from open rolls that I just don't want to spend until I know nobody else needs any in trade......... I'm open to swaps! I still have some recent holes to fill.
I have 3 of each of the ATB quarters from circulation except Mt Hood , they are all P mint and excellent condition.Half a roll of 2010 p cents and 6 2010 p dimes. We need a BST thread for some swapping maybe ?
My non-collector buddy had two Grand Canyon Ds so I bought them from him. Later when I looked what I had with a loupe I saw the obverses were pretty mushy looking strikes. Not alot of detail in George`s bust.

the coin show dealers have them.
they have to be out there somewhere.

haven't seen any 2010 quarters and a few 2009 quarters
but seen alot of the (4) 2009s Lincolns last year and way too many 2010 shield pennies this year
our area always seems to get new pennies first

I found it here on the "BST-US Coins" Forum.... How do I put the following post title into a Link?
Let's see if we can help fill each others' needs on 2009 & 2010 coins before the 2011's arrive! List needs/xtras here!![/LI]
They aren't in circulation. There hasn't been enough commercial demand to warrant their wide spread release.
That's my first new quarter sighting although I've been getting shield cents for months.
