    Mark,

Are you talking to me? If so, good to hear from you. Sure, you can shoot me a PM, I don't know how to do "instant message". To do PM, just go to your user settings and enable your PM's, and to send me one just hit the thing that looks like a lock in one of my posts upper right..

Wow... please sub this set! How much did you pay for it?
  • This is my favorite set of all time, and I have to say that I am truly jealous. Very nice pick up!!

Back in the late 90s, before everyone started getting every card in the set graded, I bought several raw sets (mostly w/o the MJ) and did what this guy did; putting the perfect set together.
In 1999, I started getting them graded (it was $8/card back then!!). Most came back 9s with a couple of 10s and a few 8s thrown in.

I sold off the 10s for BIG money, and the 9s are still in my set today.

Well I ended up sending The Jordan rc to BGS since they have 2 day service level going on for 15.00 a card and I wanted to get it back asap There's not a Huge difference in VCP for PSA/BGS either so I figured this will work for me..

Anyhow got the grade Back today and it got a BGS 9 image
will post a scan when I get it back Friday..

I have a nice sized lot of the set going to PSA for the December special will also update when the results are in!

  • WINNER!!!

A BGS 9 will command some serious coin!! I believe it is more than PSA.
    What were the subgrades?
  • Spectacular set! Can't believe the number of well-centered cards that really make this exceptional...

Congrats!! Can't wait to see it in the slab.

    Thanks Guys!

For the subgrades it got 9-9-9-8.5

I was thinking it would get stronger subgrades compared to other 86 fleers I've sent them. but maybe they are tougher on the Jordan rc? anyhow I'm happy it got the overall grade it deserved.

well played... so what is the best card? I know some 9's are better than 10's in the set, but I only know the rough values of 8's (I slummed it with the set I guess).
    Perhaps the 'nique?

That is an awesome submission and if 30 out of the 132 cards got those grades the rest can not be far off. Very sweet!

<< <i>Yeah that's about the best raw set I've ever seen. A centered Johnny Moore is unheard of; the last 10 sold for $5k. A centered checklist without print marks is also tough, as are Nique, Worthy, Kareem and Lucas. Just looking at the scans you're probably looking at about 85-90% PSA 9s, 8-10% PSA 10s and maybe 5% PSA 8s if that. >>

Why would he send just the Jordan to BGS? To fetch more money I guess
    but that seems odd.

I wish I could say it was skill but I went through a few years of mostly buying raw, grading and flipping 86-87 Fleer, so I'm looking through the eyes of someone who's graded thousands of these things. Just like every set, it's knowing what PSA looks for and what they will allow for certain grades. Like I said originally, this is pretty much the best raw set I've every seen and dizz hit the motherload with it.

I didn't have a PSA membership and I wanted the Jordan graded before I did anything else with the set.. BGS had a 2 day special for 15.00 a card so I figured why not?
